#MACHINE GUN BY PETER BROTZMANN FREE#
"Brotzmann Box" is a triple album not to be missed for those who want to know the best of the musical career of one of the most significant interpreters of European free jazz. The musical construction takes shape only when the three musicians play and this makes such music in an ever ending work in progress. Peter Brotzmann's second release as a leader, this was the album that firmly established his voice as a performer and an improviser, defined w 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of Machine Gun's release, but it's still just as shocking and powerful a record as ever, a stunning and bewildering listen from beginning to end. Firstly because it’s probably the first truly European group apart from Brötzmann, there are two Germans, the double bassists Peter Kowald. There is nothing quite like it, before or since, and it remains one of the most profound documents produced in the European jazz tradition. The third volume, "Noise of Wings" (JW 56), is an album of abstract music, without notes, arrangements or pre-set structures, nothing, just musical instruments, ie tenor sax, clarinet and tárogató played by Brötzmann, Peter Friis Nielsen’s electric bass and Peeter Uuskyla’s drums. While student demonstrations cause chaos and a general strike paralyzes Paris, Germany’s Peter Brötzmann and seven musicians record Machine Gun in a jazz club (now a discotheque) in Bremen, and it’s a landmark of musical radicalism. Peter Brotzmann's 'Machine Gun' is a classic that is indispensable to any avant-garde jazz fan's collection. The music of Brötzmann (alto and tenor), Bill Laswell (electric guitar, 6-string bass), Sonny Sharrock (guitar), Shannon Jackson (percussion, vocals) is incredible because incredible is the interaction between the four musicians who they reach uncharted sonic territories, writing a new page in the history of free jazz. The second volume of the box is "Low Life - Last Exit" (JW 12), an extraordinary record with a great power and conciseness. brand new, still sealedPeter Brtzmann Octet Machine Gun - Alternate TakesLabel:CIEN FUEGOS CF021Format:Vinyl, LP, Reissue Country:AustriaReleased:27.
